These jewelry boxes are both very functional and beautiful. All boxes are constructed using mitred corners reinforced with splines. These splines not only help strengthen the joinery but are also an elegant detail in the finished product. All tops are attached with mortised in hinges and positive stops to prevent the top from opening too far. Despite the small size, all drawers and trays are dovetailed and track on hardwood runners to keep the drawer in the correct position when closed and to keep it from tipping down when opened. All boxes have padded ring bars and are either lined with black velvet or microsuede as well as fully adjustable dividers. Using very highly prized and figured woods, the small details such as drawer pulls, trim, feet and inlays are all hand made and attached using epoxy and small dowel pins. Hand rubbed oil and polyurethane is the preferred finish to bring out the natural beauty of the figured woods. Rosewood will not accept an oil finish so they are finished with either hand rubbed shellac and then polyurethane or paste wax alone.
